Is WWE Paying Brock Lesnar More Than Cody Rhodes? Comparing Their Salaries andOther Contractual Det

June 2024 · 5 minute read

Although their rivalry hasn’t been going on for too long, Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes have become a major attraction in WWE. They are a pair that truly exudes a clear contrast. In fact, both wrestlers are very different on almost every scale we take up for comparison.

Today, we shall dive into an analysis of such a comparison between ‘The Beast Incarnate’ and his most recent opponent, ‘The American Nightmare’.

A brief look at Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar’s rivalry

‘The American Nightmare’ started the year 2023 with a bang when he returned to WWE at Royal Rumble. Not long after he won the event, the feud between Rhodes and Roman Reigns started. Brock Lesnar, on the other hand, did not start 2023 on a good note. Having lost at two PLE in a row, Lesnar was probably looking forward to venting his anger on Rhodes. He assaulted ‘The American Nightmare’ during a backstage promo in a weekly show. Thus began the rivalry that resulted in two battles within a brief span of time.

To further aggravate the already intense feud, WWE set up a match between the two wrestlers at a PLE that soon followed. It happened to be ‘Backlash 2023’ that took place on May 6th. When the day finally arrived, both opponents met inside the ring as the audience sat on the edge of their seats, awaiting a result. Despite putting up a tough fight against ‘The American Nightmare’, the 45-year-old wrestler lost the match. However, the feud was far from over and the duo faced each other again a few weeks later.

The second time the two met to face each other was at the Night of Champions on May 27th. This time around, both the wrestlers carried more expectations on their shoulders. Despite how his fans must have wanted it to go, ‘The American Nightmare’ lost the match. After giving his opponent a broken arm, Lesnar left Saudi Arabia content and proud. So far, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ hasn’t returned, which has been a cause of concern for his ‘babyface’ rival.

Who is the higher-paid wrestler: Brock Lesnar or Cody Rhodes?

No WWE fan is a stranger to Lesnar’s story with the promotion. The Beast Incarnate appeared on WWE TV in 2002. After continuing his career in the company for two years, he abruptly left the company in 2004 as soon as his contract ended. Lesnar went on to try out a number of things as a profession. However, he ultimately returned to the company after eight years in 2012 and it looks like WWE has been trying its best to not let him leave.

After Lesnar’s comeback in 2021, reports suggest his salary to be at least $5 Million. This also makes him one of the highest-paid wrestlers in WWE. However, his opponent, on the other hand, may not be receiving quite as much. There haven’t been many reports surrounding The American Nightmare’s received income from WWE. But there is an estimation that he probably earns somewhere around $3-6 Million. So, if reports surrounding Lesnar’s salary are true, Rhodes has a solid chance of being paid less than his rival.

Some more important contractual details

Coming to other contractual details, The American Nightmare has appeared to have signed a multi-year contract with WWE. It started when he returned to the promotion in 2022. Only one year has passed since that day. So, we could be seeing more of him in the future years of the promotion.

On the other hand, we have observed that Brock Lesnar’s contract seemingly expires somewhere around April every time. Since we have already left April behind and Lesnar appeared on two more PLEs in May, he might have renewed the contract. If not, then it appears to be bad news for his fans, as Rhodes also believes that Lesnar is done for good this time.

Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar: Will the feud continue?

A feud is almost never finished in WWE. There is no saying when the creative team will find it a good idea to bring back an old feud. In this sense, we can’t say for sure whether the Lesnar vs Rhodes feud is over yet. However, fans have enough information at hand regarding the feud to make a few informed predictions.

After the Money in the Bank event, Canadian journalist Ariel Helwani interviewed Rhodes. During the same, Rhodes revealed how he would love to see Brock Lesnar come back. Although ‘The Beast Incarnate’ hasn’t confirmed his leave, Rhodes believes that he is done with WWE.

He feels that it’s possible Lesnar wanted to leave WWE on a high note after his victory at the Night of the Champions. But the former AEW star is of the opinion that they need to meet a few more times in the ring for the feud to be truly complete.

Rhodes is not a fan of leaving things in between. So, seeing the score between the two wrestlers at 1-1 bugs him. He told Helwani, “It’s so weird to leave it at one and one“. This is the real reason Rhodes wants his opponent to come back; so that the two wrestlers can end the rivalry with one last match.

WWE could already have something in the works to give the feud a final touch. Do you think the feud deserves it? Let us know in the comments.
