March 2024 · 3 minute read

NBC has announced that Chloe Troast is joining the cast of “Saturday Night Live,” the only new comedian rounding out the show’s talent lineup for the coming year.

Troast will make her “SNL” debut on Oct. 14, when the show’s 49th season premieres. The episode will also feature host (and former cast member) Pete Davidson and a musical performance by Ice Spice.

The up-and-coming Troast will star alongside regulars Michael Che, Mikey Day, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Bowen Yang and Kenan Thompson, among several others.

Here are 5 things to know about the newest face on “Saturday Night Live”:

Troast is a New Jersey native currently based in Brooklyn

Troast hails from the northern NJ town of Ho-Ho-Kus, and crossed the Hudson River to study at New York University. She attended the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU, which she refers to as “basically just an English degree,” and received a minor in Middle Eastern Islamic Studies.

She now lives in Brooklyn, not too far from her hometown.

She’s collaborated with fellow SNL cast members Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy

Troast will be featured in the upcoming film starring the comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy, who also work on SNL. “Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain,” slated for released on Nov. 17, follows the three friends as they go a journey to find gold said to be hidden in a nearby mountain.

“The Treasure of Foggy Mountain” is directed by Paul Briganti and produced by Universal and Judd Apatow.

Troast can also be seen in the upcoming Max film “Sweethearts.”

She co-hosts a weekly New York comedy show called Cherry

Alongside Auguste White and Moss Perricone, Troast hosts Cherry every week at Public Hotel in New York City. Cherry features a wide variety of comedians every Friday at 8:00 p.m. and features DJ Jeremy Elder.

Guest comedians have included Hasan Minhaj, Sydnee Washington, Andrew Dismukes, Rachel Sennott, Alex English, Joe Pera and Asha Ward.

She’s been named one of Just for Laugh’s New Faces of Comedy

Troast has been named one of JFL’s 2023 New Faces of Comedy. Included in a group of comedians in the category of “characters,” Troast participated in the Montreal comedy festival this past July. The “characters” show was hosted by Chris Redd.

Previous comedians who performed at the festival early on in their careers include Kevin Hart and Kumail Nanjiani.
