Charles Barkley and his weird takes never come to an end. On his podcast episode with co-host Ernie Johnson, the Philadelphia 76ers legend did not fail to make a controversial statement yet again. Speaking of the worst and best holidays, Barkley straight up went to disrespect billions around the world by making it clear that he hates Christmas. Although the 60-year-old’s Christmas Day celebrations on TNT have been a treat to watch, it looks like he still hates it. What is the reason?
We’ll see but before that a few clips of Barkley on Christmas make his latest statement sound a bit ironic. Have you ever seen Barkley singing jingles with a Christmas hat on? Let’s take a look.
Charles Barkley hates Christmas and here’s why
Johnson and Barkley shared their excitement for Thanksgiving next week and the former player went, “You know, Christmas sucks. It’s the worst holiday ever”. That indeed escalated quickly. Johnson tried his best not to get involved, “Well, I’m not going there.”
Anyhow, the 1993 MVP wanted to emphasize more about his hate for Christmas. Barkley added, “Christmas sucks, everybody just wants stuff”. It doesn’t stop here.
The 60-year-old shared, “When I become the President of the United States, once you get past 18 you don’t get gifts. That’s the magic cut-off number.”
It is pretty evident that Barkley hates the tradition of giving gifts but sadly, that is how Christmas works. It’s an odd way to hate a famous holiday.
Charles Barkley might face some heat for this take! But at the same time, though Barkley believes the famous holiday “sucks”, his entertaining Christmas episodes on ‘NBA on TNT’ show us that he unconsciously loves it.
Charles Barkley’s special Christmas videos
There is a separate video from the TNT, showcasing the best moments of ‘Inside the NBA’ majorly featuring Barkley. Most importantly, the famous and wholesome moment where Shaq and Barkley hugged it out during the show happened during Christmas.
Although the Sixers legend hates the idea of gifts, he has always enjoyed the special occasions and holidays.
Oh, and let’s not forget the iconic video of Barkley singing the jingles during his time with the 76ers. In a famous video featuring Chuck and his teammates with a Christmas hat, the 60-year-old sang jingles and later wished the fans for a happy holiday.
