The procedure was extremely painful, but not painful enough to break the golfer’s spirits. Moreover, with his son’s wedding on the way, Nicklaus was even more driven to recover faster. The golf star could not play the Masters in 1999, but he was extremely excited to dance at his son’s wedding!

While checking out from the New England Baptist Hospital with the support of his crutches, Nicklaus revealed his wife’s motivating words. “My wife told me the one thing I’m going to do is dance at my son’s wedding…Other than that, I’m going to do nothing for six weeks,” he said. Although he was instructed to rest properly, it sounded like a good deal to the doctors as well.

Jack Nicklaus and his wife share an inseparable bond. The two have been together for decades now and married when they were young. There was a time when the golf star revealed how they made their marriage last for so long. As he once explained, “Barbara says this: ‘It’s about 95 percent give and five percent take.’ If you both do that, it’ll end up out pretty well,”

According to the ‘Golden Bear’, Barbara supported him during all the rough times in his career. And now, with all the charitable foundations the couple is running, Nicklaus is using his chance to give more to his wife. Not many relationships last this long nowadays when it comes to making adjustments and supporting each other. However, the Nicklauses are a great example for the younger generations!
