A teenager has been charged with felony child abuse after recording herself lighting a joint and forcing a toddler to inhale.

Naledi Roberts, 17, was arrested by Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office on Friday after detectives discovered the footage.

On Thursday, March 23, deputies responded to a private residence in unincorporated Largo for allegations of child abuse.

She initially admitted to smoking marijuana near the victim, a one-year-old girl, who she was babysitting for her friend, 16, the mother of the child.

But after officers confronted her with the footage, she admitted to placing the cigarette in the victim’s mouth.

Roberts can be seen placing the lit joint into the tot’s mouth, she then inhales and the embers glow brighter.

After her arrest she refused to provide an explanation as to why she put the drug into the child's mouth.

Roberts was then arrested and charged with one count of Felony Child Abuse, and was transported to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Centre.

A Pinellas County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman told DailyMail.com that the child did not appear to have suffered any long-lasting injuries because of the incident.

They added that it was unclear if Roberts had posted the footage online, or how officers uncovered it.
