Ariana Grandes New Perfume Thank U, Next Review

April 2024 · 3 minute read

Pop sensation, girl crush and queen of female empowerment Ariana Grande has ruled the year 2019, surprising her fans and the rest of the world with a string of chart-topping and empowering singles, viral music videos and her public voice of strength and positivity after facing a pretty tough time. And now following on from the success of her last six perfumes including Cloud, Moonlight and Ari, 'Thank U, Next' is the latest addition to her line-up, and we think it might just be the best one yet…

Can’t get over your ex? Has your old flame that you know is bad for you asked to meet up? Or perhaps your current MCM left you on blue ticks over a week ago. Whether you’re going through a breakup or not, every woman has experienced the emotional rollercoaster of heartbreak, and Ari’s new perfume might just help you get over that guy.

Described as the fragrance “for moving on and looking up,” this new scent reflects the message of her catchy and iconic song of the same name (we’re still watching the music video on repeat) – to love yourself, appreciate your past relationships and learn from your breakup. But don’t worry, her perfume doesn’t actually smell of what you imagine heartbreak would smell like – you know, unwashed hair, an ex’s t-shirt doused in week-old aftershave, a pizza box and red wine.

Instead, it’s exactly what you’d imagine Ari to smell of IRL - a fruity, girly balance of sexy-sweet. First, you get the delicious notes of juicy, crisp white pear and raspberry, before it melts into warm and cocooning coconut and velvety musk, while delicate rose petals and sweet macaroon sugar add the finishing touch. And of course, staying true to her aesthetic, the bottle is super feminine, cute and Insta-worthy. Housed in a pastel pink bottle inside a broken heart, Grande says: “I was inspired to design a bottle that represented the message of my song 'thank u, next' – the emergence of the perfume from the broken heart represents moving forward from a challenging chapter.”

So, while a spritz of her perfume won’t stop you from drunk-texting your ex or heal your broken heart (sad face), we do think a daily dose of this sweet and uplifting perfume might be a pretty good place to start.

Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande is available from the 27th August exclusively in Boots UK, and in Superdrug from 11th September, from £25.
